Join us on an afternoon journey of Victoria’s distilling history and craft whisky revival.
This tour will introduce you to the whisky-making process and Melbourne’s thriving whisky culture. Enjoy an afternoon of whisky & shine, bringing together talented distillers and award-winning whiskies to discover stories about the past, present and future of whisky in Victoria.
We will start at the Whisky Den, a Japanese-inspired bar in the centre of Melbourne, followed by a visit to two craft Melbourne distilleries.
The tour will include 10+ tastings of whisky and grain spirit throughout the afternoon, including:
- a boilermaker (whisky + beer) or highball (whisky + soda) upon commencement of the tour;
- a comprehensive tour of the whisky-making process and sampling of whiskies at Bakery Hill Distillery;
- a tour and tastings at Melbourne Moonshine distillery, followed by a beer/cider over light gourmet treats;
- transport to/from Bakery Hill Distillery.
Tour group will be limited to 12.
Meet at the Whisky Den, 27 Russell Street at 1:00pm. The tour will end at Melbourne Moonshine Company, 8 George Street, South Melbourne at 6:30pm.

To ‘play hooky’ is to be absent without permission. Who doesn’t want to knock off at noon for whisky?
This tour will incorporate the best of regional Victorian whisky and urban distilling in Melbourne.
Join us for a hearty two-course lunch with beer or wine in conversation with Timboon Railway Shed Distillery’s owner and head distiller, Josh Walker. Lunch will include sampling of the Timboon range over tales of Victoria’s illicit whisky history. One lucky participant will win a $155 bottle of Timboon’s Port Expression 500ml (drawn from the tour group).
After lunch, we’ll visit Starward Distillery to learn about founder David Vitale’s vision to produce an approachable, modern and distinctly Australian whisky. Starward’s Wine Cask edition was recently awarded Best Australian Single Malt at the 2017 World Whiskies Awards.
Enjoy VIP access at Starward’s impressive distillery in Port Melbourne, discover the whisky production process and enjoy a guided whisky tasting of Starward’s core range and special projects. The tour will end with a ‘bottle your own’ experience – hand bottling your own 200ml bottle of unique cask strength Starward whisky directly from the barrel.
Meet at Harry & Frankie, 317 Bay Street Port Melbourne for a 12:30 start. The tour will end at Starward Distillery, 50 Bertie Street Port Melbourne, at approx 16:30.
Tour includes:
- 8+ tastings of whisky during the afternoon;
- two-course lunch with beer or wine over conversation with Timboon Railway Shed Distillery’s owner and head distiller, Josh Walker;
- the chance to wine a $155 bottle of Timboon’s Port Expression 500ml (drawn from the tour group) and discounted purchases on the day;
- VIP tour of the production process and master class tasting at Starward Distillery;
- bottle your own 200ml special bottle of cask-strength Starward whisky, directly from the barrel;
- transport from Harry & Frankie to Starward distillery
